Derby Pride Academy recognised by the Prime Minister for Outstanding Examination Outcome
On Wednesday 2nd September Mrs Whelan was invited to meet David Cameron (Prime Minister) and Nicky Morgan (Secretary of State for Education) to celebrate the success and outstanding examination outcome for Derby Pride Academy. The government announce the opening of a wave of new Free Schools this Wednesday and Mrs Whelan was invited to No 10 Downing Street to help celebrate the success of the Free School initiative.
Mrs Whelan said “It was a real privilege to be able to walk up the famous stairs at Downing Street which contain all of the pictures of previous Prime Ministers and to see inside No10. I am very proud of the achievements of Derby Pride Academy and am thrilled that all of this years’ Year 11 students have done so well and have jobs, courses and apprenticeships to look forward to starting in September. Outcomes at Derby Pride are significantly better than average outcomes nationally for pupil referral units and amongst the best in the country. Nicky Morgan was pleased to hear of our outstanding results this year and has promised that she will visit our school. Mr Cameron said that he was very proud that Free Schools were doing so well.”
