Graduation Day

Derby Pride Academy’s first ever Graduation Day took place on Thursday 23rd June. Staff and students all turned out at the front of the school to view the Year 11s leave in a limousine.

Karen Hayes, Principal of Derby Pride Academy, said,

“This is the first graduation we have had.  We are really proud of all our Year 11 students.  They are all moving onto something new and their predicted results are looking very promising. They behaved impeccably during the exam period.  Today is our way of acknowledging everything they have achieved.  We are very proud of them and will really miss them”

The students were all really appreciative of the support they had received at the school.

“I’m going to really miss the teachers.  They are like family to me and have really helped me!” said Declan Burton.

Sam Croft continued, “I am going to miss the banter and Miss Taylor and Lerisha.”

For some of the students, Derby Pride Academy has given them opportunities they had not had before.

“It’s been good.  I will miss some of the teachers and students.  My favourite bit was Child Development lessons.  I want to work in childcare.  I didn’t do anything to do with Childcare before coming here but I have been given the chance by Miss Taylor to do it.” Samantha Brassington.

The day was finished off with a drive in the limousine and meal at Nando’s.
