As part of your child's education at the academy, staff work closely to ensure positive engagement in education. It is evidenced that the longer a student is on roll with us at the academy, the greater the gains in percentage attendance.
Attendance registers are taken twice a day. Morning registers open at 8.45am and close at 9.45am. Students that arrive after 9.45am must report to Reception to ensure the register is amended to show their presence. Students leaving the Academy during the day due to illness or medical appointments should also sign out at Reception. Registers show whether students are present, absent or not required to attend due to being dual registered and attending another provision.
Please find below information to support in ensuring your child arrives to the academy on time.

Request for Leave of Absence:
Notice of absence should be given to the school 15 days prior to the actual absence. Please use the following form for requesting absences: Absence Request for Leave of Absence 2016-17.
As per guidance by the Minister for Education, 1 September 2013, the school will not grant leave of absence during term time unless there are explicit “Exceptional Circumstances”.
Should you still decide to take your child out of school their absence will be recorded as “Unauthorised”.
All “unauthorised absences” are reported to the Education Welfare Service who may issue a Penalty Notice.
Parents/Guardians may receive a Penalty Notice payable up to £120 per Parent per Child for un-authorised leave of absence. Failure to make payment may result in the matter being placed before the Magistrates Court.
